Billy Joel and The 1975 are two of Hues’ favourite artists. Billy Joel represents everything Hues loves about older styles of music. He is deeply inspired by his incredible structures, harmonic choices, and the piano being a main character in the music. The 1975 represent everything he loves about modern producton. From the ’75 he took their expansive production, glossy guitar licks, and undeniable groove.

What comes from Hues directly? Hues grew up playing cello and lived on a symphonic diet with all the sonic colour it entailed. You can kick the boy out of the orchestra, but you can’t kick the orchestra out of the boy. Hues has an absolute command of the string orchestra and uses it to maximum effect throughout the song.

Lyrics and aesthetics are inspired by the masterpieces of gothic fiction such as Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Picture of Dorian Gray and 19th century symphonies.
